The Seaspiracy Foundation is a registered charity in Australia (ABN 93 683 950 441). We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website. For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@seaspiracy.org.
We collect only what we need to campaign, communicate, and take donations:
We use your information to reply to you, send you the newsletter you asked for, process and acknowledge donations, and meet our record-keeping obligations as a charity. Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for marketing emails and non-essential cookies, on contract to process a donation you have chosen to make, on our legitimate interests to keep the site secure and to answer your enquiries, and on legal obligation for financial and charity records.
We do not sell your data, and we do not rent or trade our supporter list. We share information only with the service providers who make this work: Substack (newsletter), Donorbox (donations) together with the services its donation form relies on — Stripe for card payments, FingerprintJS for fraud detection, Google reCAPTCHA for anti-spam, and Double the Donation for employer gift matching — Chilli (campaign actions), Google Fonts (typefaces), and our website host. Most of these are based outside Australia and the EEA, including in the United States; where that happens we rely on the safeguards in those providers' own data transfer terms. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to deal with it and for a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Donation records are kept for the period our charity and tax obligations require.
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, object to processing based on our legitimate interests, withdraw consent at any time, and ask for your data in a portable form. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. To exercise any of these rights, email info@seaspiracy.org. If you are in the EEA or UK and are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your national data protection authority; in Australia, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.
By using this website you agree to these terms. Please use the site lawfully, and do not attempt to disrupt it, gain unauthorised access to it, or misuse the contact form to send unlawful or abusive material.
Text, imagery, campaign material, and the Seaspiracy name and marks on this site belong to The Seaspiracy Foundation or to the photographers and partners credited alongside them. You may share and quote our campaign material to support the work; you may not use it commercially, or in a way that implies endorsement, without our written permission. Photographs remain the property of their credited photographers.
We name partner organisations where we work alongside them. Naming a partner does not make us responsible for their content, campaigns, or conduct. Campaign actions and donations are handled by third-party platforms under their own terms.
Donations are voluntary and, unless required by law, non-refundable — if you have made a donation in error, contact us and we will do our best to help. We allocate funds and property in accordance with our established charitable purpose only, without influence from any donor's preference, and we will not pass a donation to another organisation, body, or person as a condition of that donation.
We take care that the figures and campaign information we publish are accurate and sourced, but this site is provided for information and advocacy, not as professional advice. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
We may update these terms and our policies as the site and our work change; the date at the top shows when they were last revised. These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
